The US military takes an oath to the Constitution, is accountable to the taxpayers (nominally), and is also largest 'agency' of the US government. It costs a LOT of money to run. How about if they make the requirements so egregious that everyone flunks out, then recruit them to work for private mercenary companies, where the req's are lax, and who's allegiance is to "whoever is paying the tab"?
E.G. The Billionaires (and of course there'd be an even larger taxpayer-funded gravy train).
It's really just an extension of the way things have been going in the military for decades now, these req's are just a way to kick the process up by another notch.
Putin and all the other billionaires would love that idea.
