OK-GOV, OK-ED: OKLAHOMA ELECTION SEASON HEATS UP WITH NEW CANDIDATES FOR GOVERNOR AND SUPT.

Panelists on Your Vote Counts said newly appointed State Superintendent Lindell Fields brings a chance to calm tensions and restore stability at the Oklahoma State Department of Education.

Fields, a longtime educator and former Tri-County Career Tech superintendent, was described as someone who can “right the ship” and “move us out of 50th” in education rankings.

“It’s not time to rock the boat anymore,” former state representative Jason Dunnington said. “It’s time to get down to business.”

The race for Oklahoma’s top education post grew more crowded this week as state Sen. Adam Pugh announced his campaign for state superintendent, adding a new contender to an already active 2026 election landscape.
