(52,487 posts)as it is very likely fake news. FIFA has NOT, as if my typing this, made any statement that they are considering moving any WC games from the US to Canada. In fact they have said that Trump has no power to move games from some US cities to others.

(4,876 posts)There is ZERO chance FIFA would do that. ZERO. This is not speculation. This is nonsense.

(50 posts)but Indonesia did not allow the Israeli squad, which had qualified, to play the tournament. So FIFA decided to move the tournament to Argentina as a punishment. Probably if Tangerine Palpatine keeps on with this immigration BS, they should apply the same punishment and move all matches to Mexico and Canada.

(22,035 posts)that bounced around in June and July. There was and since has been no statement from FIFA indicating they were considering moving matches from the US.
The most recent statement from FIFA regarding moving sites was to say Trump has no control over where the matches will be played:
FIFA vice president Victor Montagliani struck down U.S. President Donald Trumps recent threats to move certain host cities for the 2026 World Cup, asserting that only FIFA can make those decisions.
The 2026 World Cup is set to unfold across the United States, Canada and Mexico next summer, bringing soccers biggest tournament to North America for the first time since 1994. Eleven cities in the U.S., including Seattle and San Francisco, will host matches, which were scrutinized by President Trump last week.
It will be safe for the World Cup. If I think it isnt safe [for the World Cup], well move it to a different city. Absolutely If I think its not safe, were going to move it out of that city, the U.S. president said.
Now, Montagliani made his and FIFAs stance clear on the subject, going directly against the remarks of President Trump.

(7,676 posts)FIFA has explicitly said they are NOT considering moving any games. They also rebuked Trump who wants to move games out of "Democratic" cities.

While the U.S. is slated to host a majority of the 2026 World Cup alongside Canada and Mexico, Donald Trump is not in charge of the tournament. FIFA reiterated that to the U.S. president.
Last week, Trump had threatened to move World Cup matches out of U.S. cities that he deemed "dangerous" despite the fact that host cities have already been named in a tournament that FIFA is organizing not the U.S. government.
When discussing those remarks FIFA vice president Victor Montagliani put an end to the notion that Trump could dictate where matches are held.
Just as FIFA isn't considering moving the World Cup out of the U.S., Trump can't move the World Cup out of U.S. cities. It's FIFA's tournament.
