The filibuster is practically gone anyway.
The only thing that would keep them from doing it is the thought that when the Democrats retake the Senate, they would pay the rethugs back, and benefit the American public with a simple majority and pass a very progressive agenda.
They are so filled with power lust I wouldn't be surprised the rethugs did it.
and if they did, it sure would provide a major midterm election issue on healthcare.

(21,041 posts)1) it kills the filibuster so we dont have to rely on Fettermans vote to do it when we retake the senate. Then, as long as we have 50 votes+VP, we can ram through whatever we want, and repeal whatever republicans pass beforehand.
2) it keeps the ACA cuts in place, and the suffering that will cause will increase our odds in the midterms
A perfect example of a win-win
