Republican Game of Chicken

Trump and congressional Republicans are running out the clock.

Within a few weeks, the ACA subsidies will be a moot point.

Because the rates for 2026 will have been set and those rates will be based upon the exclusion of the subsidies.

IOW, the rates will potentially double.

And once those rates have increased, the Democrats will have lost their bargaining power for that issue.

Once people start receiving those notices about premium hikes, they will then see what we've been telling them all along and it will cut through the propaganda and make it more likely they put pressure on their legislators to do something to fix the problem -- which is exactly what the Democrats have been requesting in exchange during these government shutdown negotiations.
