"Armed Florida agents visited Largo man over postcard critical of CFO Ingoglia"

This is the headline from an Axios article dated 10/08/25 with a byline from Kathryn Varn and additionally sourcing a report from the Orlando Sentinel from 10/07/25. So what did the postcard say that warranted armed officers in bullet proof vests? The only comment on the postcard was "You lack values". That's it. Three words. Of course anybody at the enforcement division of the Financial offices for Florida is busy claiming that it's all just because of the current rise of threats to officials etc.

But actually the real reason may well be that this elderly couple is known in their community for organizing against policies of Crumb the 1st as well as Florida's top officials. Of note from the Orlando Sentinel article is that the armed officers failed to identify themselves and while speaking to the man who sent the postcard they brought up his service in Vietnam. So obviously they had gone way deep on checking into this man. All because he told a public official "You lack values". About as mild and polite a rebuke as anybody could possibly make.

The official who the postcard was sent to claims no knowledge about anything. The Orlando Sentinel article has a bit more depth but suffice it to say this is where we are in some areas of the country today. Many of us remember those days in the 1950's and 1960's in certain areas of the country when voicing even mild support for voting rights or being against the Vietnam War or the draft could get you in serious trouble with the locals where you lived. I confess it comes back to me sometimes in a PTSD way and I choke up and fight to keep from crying when talking to people about those years. This repression coming back is a spectre that some of us know well and we know where this leads and what kinds of things take place.
