I loved the F1 movie but here we go again with trying to sanitize the Saudis. Ugh.

I didn't put this in the movie section because I wanted to address the portrayal of the Saudis in the movie. I am not a racing fan but it had to 2 of my favorite actors Brad Pitt and Damson Idris. It was a great movie. It will go into the pantheon of great sports movies. But the sight of the saudis irked me.
They are pushing their way into sports and damn near every facet of sports and entertainment.
I haven't watched NBA games in a while, turned to a game recently and they were playing in Abu Dhabi.
There was the the drama with the comedians that got paid to perform for the Saudis.
Secular Talk did an excellent take about how these " Bro comedians" ranted about free speech (hint, I want to be a bigot speech) for so long and talked shit about Democrats don't like free speech. Yet they happily went to perform for the Saudis and signed contracts that said they could not make fun of the Saudi govt or Islam.
Secular Talk made a brilliant point, just imagine if the Democrats booked these comedians and told them not to make fun of Joe Biden or any democrat.
These " free speech" bros were never about free speech. They happily sold their free speech for millions of dollars.

From golf, to the NBA and now Hollywood.
Ugh!

"They can't be bad people because they support my favourite sport!"

As for the movie F1, no film maker will want to alienate anyone, especially monied up important people.

At least you know there is manipulation happening, many people will not.
