'Instead they call for Comer to "force the Department of Justice to follow the law and release all its Epstein files, including any material regarding US as we have publicly called for."
[Excerpts from letter,
January 13, 2026]
'Chairman Comer,
We want to take a moment, given everything, to address you directly.
This past year has seen our Government engage in unprecedented acts, including against our own citizens. People have been seized by masked federal agents from their homes, their workplaces, and the streets of their communities. Students and scientists with visas permitting them to study and work here have been deported without due process. The people who laid siege to the U.S. Capitol have been pardoned and called heroes. Agencies vital to the countrys national security have been dismantled. Universities, media companies, and law firms have been subjected to threats to their funding, access, and licensing unless they made concessions and surrendered their right to constitutionally protected free speech. American troops have been deployed on the streets of our towns and cities. The Justice Department has been used as a weapon, at the direction of the President, to pursue political opponents. And most recently and searingly, an ICE agent killed an unarmed mother only days ago.
'Every person has to decide when they have seen or had enough and are ready to fight for this country, its principles and its people, no matter the consequences.
For us, now is that time.
......
'Continue to mislead Americans about what is truly at stake, and you will learn that Americans are better at finding the truth than you are at burying it.
'Continue to pursue autopilots instead of penning laws Americans need, and you will learn that you are signing away any remaining chance of being on the right side of history.
'Continue to abet the dismantling of America, and you will learn that it takes more than a wrecking ball to demolish what Americans have built over 250 years.
........
Sincerely,
Bill Clinton
Hillary Rodham Clinton"

(57,430 posts)There is no suggestion that Hillary was in anyway involved with Epstein. The GOP has a hard on for her.

(2,691 posts)We know this because Pam Bondi stood there and said there was no client list and nobody was being blackmailed. Everything they say is the opposite of the truth.
That's primarily what they don't want out. As others have posted, it goes very far and wide as to who was being blackmailed. Its my belief many have offered Trump large sums of money to keep it under wraps. Given that "everybody" says there is nothing in the files that indicate crimes by Trump, this is about the only legitimate explanation as to why he is trying so hard to not release it all.

(17,080 posts)Bill Clinton may be old and he may be slowing down, but he is still one of the most cunning politicians that I've ever seen. Hillary is smart; Bill is cunning.
Let's see how this unfolds.

Comer is so outmatched that he's probably too stupid to realize just HOW outmatched he is. How hilarious is that?
For the record, I have never been convinced that Bill Clinton was involved in Epstein's shady sexual shenanigans. We all know his history of being a horn dog and a skirt chaser, but I'm not aware of any evidence that he chased any skirts that were worn by underage girls. Comer and his ilk may think, or at least hope, differently, OR they may just be leaping at what they see as a chance to intimidate and embarrass two people their party has had it in for since the 1990s. Either way, they haven't just brought a knife to a gunfight. They've challenged the Clintons to a duel with the weapons being an antique musket and a state of the art assault rifle. (I'll leave it to the reader to figure out which side is using which weapon.

(17,080 posts)I've said many times on DU that I believe Bill enjoys flattery and has (obviously) acted on it. That's between him and Hillary. But I have never thought of him as being some kind of pervert, deviant sexual predator like I completely believe Donald Trump to be.

(22,233 posts)To anyone who hasn't gone to the link and read the whole thing, I highly recommend it, because it's so, so good. They ripped Comey a whole bunch of new ones in the most icily polite manner imaginable. I am in awe of just how well written the letter is.
I'm sure the Clintons have good lawyers who helped with this, but their own brilliant legal minds are all over it as well. Hats off to Bill, Hillary, and anyone else involved, for standing up to Comer and his craven Republican cohorts!

(5,787 posts)he defied that subpoena for more than 600 days and faced zero consequences for doing so. Never forget.

(557 posts)and by law are required to do so. Just because the other side routinely violates it doesn't mean we should follow their example.
And the right wing media sphere will never let the public hear the end of this, I can hear "Crooked HIliary and Bill" all over again. And the conspiracy theories regarding the Clintons will go into high gear.
The only hope for a return to a lawful society is for at least one side to observe it. Once our side starts violating it, the rule of law is over folks, and it ain't coming back.
The Clinton's are making a huge mistake, which is going to damage our country.

(45,993 posts)It would be one thing if the subpoena required Clinton to turn over any material he has referencing Epstein and then was questioned about it. He would have had the opportunity to review those materials.
I have every reason to believe Jordan has access to Epstein-related material that references Clinton but that Clinton may never have seen or saw many years ago. Jordan is looking for "gotcha" moments by questioning Clinton on such documents. No way. As Clinton says --- put it all out there and then, and only then, have a hearing where Clinton can be asked about those documents.
Fil1957
(557 posts)appear when they're subpoenaed in the future.
To make matters worse, this isn't going to go away. Far from it. There will be a vote in the house on contempt charges. Then the DOJ will be asked to make arrests and guess what they'll do? Merrick Garland doesn't work there anymore. All this takes time.
So the media, instead of covering the Trump-Epstein connection will be covering the Clinton-Epstein connection.
They should appear, testify, suffer some embarrassment, take the hit and move on. Now they're going to be the center of attention for months with possible arrest at the end.

Bill and Hillary are both knowledgeable and savvy enough not to be drawn into the idiot games this republican congress clown show plays. They both support rule of law and to claim they should allow themselves to be used as a distraction is laughable.
