POLL: Would you be uncomfortable talking to strangers wearing AI smart glasses?

Some but not all smart glasses will show an LED indicator light when they're used to record, but even brands with that indicator light can have the light disabled, and a working indicator light might not be noticeable in certain lighting conditions (bright sunlight, for instance).

Smart glasses can also be used with facial recognition apps, and Meta is currently considering adding facial recognition to its smart glasses.

I'd be uncomfortable and would limit conversations with them.

I'd be uncomfortable at first but would ask if they were recording and believe them if they said they weren't.

It wouldn't bother me at all if they were recording.

you would be even more uncomfortable if the stranger wore smart glasses that might be recording you?

I needed to ask about strangers rather than people in general because you might have a friend who uses smart glasses occasionally (maybe if compensating for low vision) but can be trusted not to misuse them.

Might give me something geeky to talk about

As for being recorded, these days I presume when I'm out and about I'm always at risk for having my worst moments broadcast worldwide without warning anyway so....

You're going to have to bolt the AI headset/glasses/whatever on my head in a cage for me to use them.
Seriously, recording capabilities or not.

You can keep your guard up and assume people are recording you 24/7 in public.

It’s the facial recognition and scanning and selling of that data that is scary. That’s more than just a “dumb” recording.

yet none seem to give a damn about video recording, regardless of whether one, both or neither party is aware.

13. Pass

I'll keep this short this time, but "Pass" is the only option that I can choose. Why? Because I'd be fine chatting with strangers wearing smart glasses. However, if I'd feel uncomfortable if I knew they were recording me or using facial recognition without my knowledge.

Perhaps add another option to the poll, and I'll be happy to go back and change my vote.
