And grateful for the opportunity to give back to DU.

(3,297 posts)there's no feedback mechanism to find out how the other jurors voted (if there are others), and what ended up happening to the post.

(40,598 posts)Sometime it got ugly, erupting into huge flame wars that jumped from thread to thread.
The current system is much better.

(11,550 posts)I'm glad I never saw the old system. I'd rather do my simple duty and leave it at that, trusting the current system to work things out.

(3,297 posts)But the jurors are often left in the dark. For example, we can be asked whether we thought the comment in question was made in good faith or was ill-intended. Not sure how we're supposed to divine that! And we also don't learn how other jurors feel about any given issue, which would be nice feedback to get a sense of where the community as a whole is at.
But minor quibbles, I guess, about a system that is overall quite wonderful.

Sometimes people alert hoping to get someone they disagree with locked out of the thread.
I occasionally decline jury duty when I don't know what anybody is talking about, often involving some hot news on television and social media.
And sometimes I just want to yell at everyone in a thread, "Shut the Fuck up!"
Best walk away from that.

at least back in the day
Juror #2 voted to HIDE IT and said: all this "holier than thou" complaining about grave dancing is too much. This isn't North Korea, we don't have to pretend to be grieving, weeping and wailing.
Juror #3 voted to HIDE IT and said: No explanation given
Juror #4 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE and said: Seems like a heated argument. It's not polite, but doesn't seem to violate current community standards, sad as that may be.
Juror #5 voted to HIDE IT and said: No explanation given
Juror #6 voted to HIDE IT and said: No explanation given

(3,297 posts)I don't remember being able to give an explanation, just checking a box with my decision.
