Check how old a YouTube channel is, when it was created. Newer ones are more likely to be AI, though you will sometimes find channels created years before generative AI existed that have been repurposed for AI slop, in which case you might discover there are no older videos before the start of AI slop, or there was a sudden change in video subjects.
Check how frequently videos are uploaded. Humans not using AI aren't likely to post videos every day or two, let alone multiple times a day.
Watch for AI images in the video, often showing up even in the thumbnail, the top image you see. There are some liberals who should know better who occasionally use AI art for videos - a very dumb decision when they had no trouble creating videos in the past without AI slop - but most YouTube creators using AI are very unlikely to be reliable sources on anything.
And check comments on YouTube, where you'll often find that people who saw the video before you did have identified it as AI slop.
And yeah, I know it's a pain to have to watch out for AI slop videos. Blame the greedy AI bros who peddle it and the greedy platforms that allow it and the AI users who don't care how much misinformation they're spreading, if they can catch your attention long enough to make a bit of money.

(6,148 posts)Russia has been on the verge of collapse since the second week in Ukraine, or the other way around, depending on which channel it is. Netanyahu has been dead since last week, as well as several assassination attempts on Putin. All credible reporting, too. Right?
