"You Don't Have to Yell at Me!' Texas Republican And Dem Get Into a Fiesty Scrap at the Airport Over DHS Shutdown

Rep. Greg Casar (D-TX) and Sen. John Cornyn (R-TX) sparred in a tense debate outside of the airport in Austin, where Congressional delays in fully funding the Department of Homeland Security have led to longer security lines.

After sparring with a reporter briefly, Casar added, “Senator Cornyn should put his money where his mouth is.” Cornyn then walked up and Casar said, “Hey, senator, I was hoping that we could—”

Cornyn cut him off, “Why don’t you tell your Democrat friends to vote to pay these poor people” – referring to TSA workers whose pay is being withheld.

“You don’t have to yell at me! Let’s talk for a second. There’s a bipartisan bill to fund just the TSA. Can we do that together?” Casar replied.

Casar did better job than most Dems explaining the dems position but need to spit out details quickly and simply:

1. Dems offered bill to fund DHS except for ICE
O right now. GOP blocked bill.

2 iCE and CBP are already funded by “big beautiful bill” - not affected by shutdown. They are drowning in cash.

3. Trump dipping into big beautiful bill money to pay Coast Guard military and Secret Service. Why not did into that money to also pay TSA?

4. Dems want policy reforms for ICE - will block funding until reforms adopted. GOP refusing to negotiate. Dems already continued DHS funding once to parties time to negotiate. GOP won’t negotiate.
