Trump is not leaving office on his own accord. And even if he does. The rot infests the US Supreme Court, The US Congress and the power elite.

(5,590 posts)If I can put words in their mouth, voting hard enough wont fix the endemic sicknesses. Dems will have to root out deep corruption and reinvent federal governance. If they try to get back to normal after the elections, were well and truly fucked.

But, when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same object, evinces a design to reduce them under absolute despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such government, and to provide new guards for their future security.

(2,858 posts)I agree, just voting isnt going to get out of this. Look at Virginia, Colorado where we just gave up. In Ohio, where the same issue as Virginia with voting districts and republicans said screw the courts. Same with the orange blob.
Also, the leadership of of our party arent supporting Platner nor Mamdani.
We need to fight every single thing all the time.
We need a FDR, not milquetoast leaders.

What the rest of the solution is? I am not sure, but we'll need to figure it out soon.

(11 posts)...certainly way less new shit, for all kinds of environmental, collapse-hedging, and defunding-the-oligarchs reasons...
Though I cheerfully (?) acknowledge that's not the entirety of the solution either, but simply another aspect of it.

(5,072 posts)Unfortunately, the ruling class has an iron grip on the mentality of much of the working class. So much so that the workers wont even defend themselves and worse, actively want to be ruled by these hoarders and parasites under the ridiculous assumption that they too will one day ascend to that class.
Obviously, we have to keep voting because thats the system we live under but once the material conditions break down enough, and they will, the People will do what has to be done. Because there will be no other choice. This system of infinite economic growth simply cannot be sustained.

They think that by worshiping the Epstein class they will be able to associate with Epstein class, be accepted by the Epstein class, and somehow be one of them.
Meanwhile, the Epstein class is never going to deign to have anything to do with most magats. It's like those old, strange women at magat rallies who dress provocatively with signs saying "boner garage" and an arrow pointing to their vagina. No, girl - they don't love you.

(2,312 posts)I believe it's possible that the information overload in this modern digital age is causing more and more people to become fatigued with politics and more disconnected from the collective decision making process, resulting in them being more willing to simply let others make decisions for them.

(1,676 posts)That .is America. We dont like this today so we vote. Then we are at the alter and can make policy. Thats the game. Storming the capital or any other bs is a pipe dream. We need to motivate people to vote and enact change, and we need a majority to do that.

(4,605 posts)Voting as a single measure may not get us out of this mess, but if we don't vote, we have no hope. Voting is the most fundamental thing we must do. While it may seem an oversimplified remedy to taking our democracy back, it's key to righting this ship. If we can't get that done, we are sunk, for certain.

(109,251 posts)That fucking network has usurped WAY too much power. No network should have this much control over an administration the way that Fox News does. Fox News is the 800 pound gorilla in the room.
Democrats should devise a new media strategy for dealing with the cable news brainrot onslaught.

(109,251 posts)They're in doctors offices, dental offices, hospitals, military bases, restaurants, bars, gyms, I could go on and on. And inexplicably like every other post in my feeds are of the asshole or one of his goons on Fox saying something stupider than the last thing they said. So if it's that small of a percentage that watches cable news, why does one channel dominate the discussion?
