Premiered May 14, 2026 #trump #politics #democracy
Rick Wilson raises the nightmare scenario for 2026: what happens if Republicans lose House seats and Mike Johnson simply refuses to seat the winners?
From voter-fraud pretexts to Cleta Mitchells so-called Election Integrity network, Rick, Stuart Stevens, and Joe Trippi dig into the machinery MAGA is building to contest, delay, and delegitimize the next election. The danger is not just Election Day. Its everything that happens after.

(3,157 posts)A new speaker is decided based on the majority of whoever is left, which would likely be democrats.
But ultimately the outgoing speaker has no power to block newly elected members.

If Trump tells them not to seat the winners, they won't seat them. And then we will just have to "see what happens".

(3,157 posts)Violating those rules wont just spawn a lawsuit that would take weeks to resolve.
It would force local police and the seargent at arms (directed by the newly elected party and clerk) to arrest anybody illegally loitering on the capitol premises.
Could be another January 6, but not even close to likely to succeed. And even Johnson and most house Republicans arent stupid enough to risk their livelihoods over trumps ego with a party so historically unpopular.
