MI-SEN: Coons throws support behind Stevens in Michigan Senate Democratic primary

DISCLOSURE: I SUPPORT MALLORY FOR MY HOME STATE.

Democratic Sen. Chris Coons (Del.) endorsed Michigan Rep. Haley Stevens’s (D) Senate campaign on Monday, less than three months before the Democratic primary.

In a video that Stevens’s campaign shared online, Coons said that it was his “honor” to endorse the four-term congresswoman.

I know Haley, I’ve spent time with her, traveled with her, campaigned with her,” the Delaware Democrat added. “She is tough, she’s a fighter, she understands the importance of good-paying manufacturing jobs and she’ll stand up for Michiganders. For better healthcare, for a better quality of life, a better environment and better jobs for our future.”

Stevens is one of three candidates vying for the Democratic nomination, with Michigan state Sen. Mallory McMorrow and Abdul El-Sayed, the former director of the Wayne County Department of Health, Human and Veterans Services, also seeking the nod.
