Wondering if anyone here has gained, or is in the process of obtaining, Canadian citizenship via the new legislation granting citizenship to those with Canadian ancestors?
If you have, welcome aboard!

(320,906 posts)I love Canada. I used to go a lot when I lived in Little Falls, NY. But I'm good with being on Kauai because that's where my son and his family live.
So, making the best of living in the US right now. When it used to be so easy.

(30,005 posts)but I just got back from the Toronto Tempo @ Phoenix Mercury game and heard the Canadian national anthem played.
I'm still a US citizen with no plans going anywhere else but congrats to Toronto for winning tonight's game.

(20,459 posts)We are already Canadian citizens now that the old law was repealed; the application is for papers affirming that we have provided the necessary paperwork to the Canadian government proving it. In other words, we don't need to apply for citizenship itself because we already have it. That's my understanding. Anyway, genealogy buff relative is working on it!
