With Ukraine's drone blockade of Crimea intensifying, fuel panic has given way to food panic, with residents clearing the shelves of major chain stores.

(81,819 posts)Sevastopol. Temporarily occupied Crimea.
Gas queues so long they make the 90s look like paradise.
Putin promised there would be plenty of everything.
Well, now you're getting a taste of reality.
Glory to Ukrainian sanctions!
Glory to shortages!
This is only the beginning.

(81,819 posts)Ukrainian forces not only blockading Russia's military and logistics from Crimea and the southern corridor, but now beginning to do the same in Donetsk, preventing supplies entering from the east.
This is brilliant.

Ukrainian drone forces continue to decimate Russias maritime forces, this time near Yurkine in Russian-occupied Crimea in Ukraine. One Svetlyak-class patrol boat (Project 10410) even while moving was precisely hit.
Furthermore, drones hit the following targets:
- Pantsir-S1 air defense system
- RSBN-4N short-range radio navigation system
- train locomotive
- transformer stations

(81,819 posts)People in Crimea are already switching to horses amid fuel shortages
According to analysts, there were at least 30 strikes on Russia and occupied territories in May the highest monthly figure since the start of the war.
Eight of Russias ten largest oil refineries were hit, with some facilities targeted more than once.
Experts say this tactic makes repairs significantly more difficult and keeps facilities out of operation for longer periods.
As a result, Russian oil refining has fallen to its lowest level since 2009.
Moscow has already imposed fuel export restrictions and is intervening in the domestic market.
The country is experiencing rising prices and growing risks of localized gasoline shortages.

Ukraines drone forces have pulled off something genuinely significant at Donetsk Airport. The 14th Regiment of Ukraines Unmanned Systems Forces has established what they call fire control over the Russian-held facility, destroying launch pads, vehicles, and supply depots in a sustained campaign that has rendered the airport effectively unusable.
The target was not chosen at random. Russia had transformed the airport into a dual-purpose military asset: a launch site for Shahed-type attack drones and a logistics hub feeding front-line operations in the Donetsk region.
Taking it out of commission disrupts both functions simultaneously.

What makes this operation notable is its place within a larger strategic framework. Ukraine is pursuing what the BBC describes as a logistics lockdown strategy, using AI-guided drones to systematically dismantle Russian supply infrastructure behind the front lines rather than concentrating solely on direct battlefield engagements. The logic is straightforward: an army that cannot resupply cannot sustain offensive pressure.
Ukraines Unmanned Systems Forces described this as the first operation of its kind in modern military history, a claim that reflects how novel drone-on-infrastructure warfare at this scale and precision actually is.
Ukraine is increasingly using autonomous, and AI-assisted drones not just to harass but to degrade Russian operational capacity at depth.

So, Ukrainian drones destroyed their ship.
