Trump has said he intends to prosecute people who dipped their hands in the Reflecting pool and.........

of course he has right wing folks--over and over supporting his claim that the dippers are
criminals. It is sickening to say the least.
I do hope the folks who are being prosecuted by Trump''s DOJ are getting the financial
support that they need to fight back.

🚨 JUST IN: Video has been released of suspected vandals DESTROYING the lining of the Lincoln Memorial reflecting pool

Trump Derangement Syndrome seems to be a BRAIN EATING disease. This is INSANE.

This particular incident took place on June 19. Now, even NYTimes is admitting TWO ~170ft blade cuts have been found.

THROW THE BOOK AT THEM!

2. This is Trump's Strawberry Incident

The only thing missing is the ball bearings.

For the younger folks:

The "strawberry incident" most famously refers to the iconic, paranoid meltdown scene in Herman Wouk’s classic naval novel and its 1954 film adaptation, The Caine Mutiny, where an obsessed Captain Queeg interrogates his crew over a quart of missing strawberries.

The Caine Mutiny Incident In both the book and the movie, Captain Queeg—a deeply unstable commander—discovers that a quart of frozen strawberries from the ship's icebox was consumed without his permission. He halts regular operations to conduct an obsessive, paranoid investigation to find out who ate them. During a military trial, this bizarre obsession becomes the focal point that proves to the court-martial that Queeg is unfit for command.

The movie is well worth watching. The novel won the Pulitzer Prize.

5. The NYT screwed up.

There are so many things wrong with that article. For starters, slashes along a 20 foot long stretch in the foam (not the lining) becomes two 171-foot slashes - in the same paragraph. The source of the "documents" for the latter contradictory claim is not revealed. And was it a careless typo conveniently feeding into Trump's lies or is this the quality of journalism at NYT? What a rag the NYT has become.

The pool had been drained, resealed and then refilled by June 5. Four days later, Park Service workers discovered holes, cracks and peeling caulking in parts of the pool, along with cuts in sections of the foam, according to the documents.

The cause of the cuts was unclear. While a June 9 report by the U.S. Park Police described the cuts as “razor blade slashes” made along a 20-foot-long stretch of the foam, the administration has yet to present evidence supporting that assertion. The documents reviewed by The Times described them as two 171-foot blade cuts but did not address how they were made.

By June 16, workers had noticed that chunks of blue sealant that covered the pool’s bottom were peeling and floating to the surface, the documents show. That sealant was separate from the foam in the pool’s expansion joints, which allow its concrete slabs to expand and contract.

And that FOX News clip is thigh-slapping funny!

The paragraph says park police described the supposed cuts as "razor blade slashes" made along 20-foot-long stretch of foam, some other documents (Times doesn't say which ones) described them as 171-foot blade cuts.
By the way I don't believe anyone intentionally made any cuts or slashes.
The surface could have been not completely dry when painted. Then a SUV motorcade drove through it after it was painted. And now they are looking for a scapegoat.

Or inconsistency if you prefer. Maybe a basic math issue.

It seems irresponsible to me to report an allegation by an anonymous source that contradicts a Park Police report and coincidentally feeds into Trump's claims of a long-gash. I am suspicious of the source of that second anonymous report. It's shoddy reporting not to reveal the source and simply claim the paper reviewed it. I noted also that there is no disclaimer about lack of evidence for the long-gash, unlike for the shorter one.

At the time I read the article a few days ago, I thought MAGA would jump on it. Lo and behold.

If there is no evidence of the cuts, I don't believe it. The NYT regurgitating Administration claims via a Park Police report that, for all we know, makes false assumptions or jumps to conclusions, is not evidence. What is really happening here of course is Trump trying desparately to put the blame on anyone else but himself. It's disgusting how he gets others to pay for his own failures and incompetence.
