GOP Urges Democrats To Tone Down Rhetoric Used To Quote President Verbatim

WASHINGTON—Imploring their colleagues across the aisle to be mindful of how the highly charged language might elevate national tensions, congressional Republicans urged Democrats Tuesday to tone down the rhetoric they used to quote President Donald Trump verbatim.

“Temperatures are running high, and the last thing we need are hotheaded Democrats spewing hateful, inflammatory statements sourced directly from the president’s speeches,” said Speaker of the House Mike Johnson (R-LA), adding that there was already enough political violence in the country without stoking it further by taking words right out of the president’s mouth and repeating them in public.

“We’re sitting in the hallowed halls of the Capitol, a place with a requisite decorum, and who knows how many shooters might be inspired to commit heinous acts after hearing Rep. [Alexandria] Ocasio-Cortez read the president’s latest Truth Social post word for word? It’s shocking—and honestly quite shameful—that my colleagues in the Democratic Party would stoop to such lows.”

Johnson went on to slam Democrats for their “reckless and divisive” recitations of his own remarks on same-sex marriage.

But thats another thing. These satire sites make for good fact checking practices. As Nicole Wallace said last week about the reflecting pool crap, "I can't believe I'm having to report on this type of bullshit because thats what it is, bullshit. Every hour it's just more BS. We're literally writing the show as it airs anymore because this regime (yes she used the word regime) is spewing so much corrupt BS by the minute you can't keep up..". I paraphrase but that was just about word for word. Her frustration was at a boiling point, as are all of ours.

Poe’s Law is a popular adage that says satirical expressions of extremism online are hard to distinguish from genuine ones without indicating intent. The world has gotten so wacky under Trump 2.0 that it's hard to distinguish parody from reality in real life.

Ever since January 20, 2025, we've been living in upside down and backwards world, where white is black, hot is cold, wet is dry, and nothing makes any sense. I don't think any of us need to apologize for getting taken in by this piece of very clever satire. We've all gotten so used believing 6 impossible things before breakfast every single day, that almost anything is believable, including most of that article!
