Ford Engineers and AI situation

Reminded me of Clinton + Gore's "Partnership for a New Generation of Vehicles" (PNGV) that successfully incentivized engineers from Ford and Chrysler to design vehicles getting over 70 MPG (the goal was 80 MPG)--back in like 2000. Proving that with forward-thinking leadership and great engineering, anything would have been possible. Instead, we got Bush v. Gore, the rich getting richer, the takeover of the courts by wingnuts, and corrupt Trump and AI running things

GM produced their 80 mpg General Motors Precept concept, Chrysler had its 72 mpg ESX3 and Ford did the Prodigy.

Ford was quick to tout the fact that the Prodigy was rated for 70 MPG. Using a hybrid diesel powertrain developed under a project called P2000, the end goal was the possibility of bringing a fuel-efficient family sedan to the market.

That were trashed to favor the oil companies. We could have and should have been worldwide leaders in innovative energy saving technology. But those damn hanging chads.....
