The 'border' includes coastlines, not just the lines in the dirt between the US and Canada/ US and Mexico. Most people in our nation live within the 200 mile 'border zone' around the nation and are subject to stops, searches, and sometimes having your car basically taken apart by agents looking for smuggled people and/or contraband.

Have seen, with my own eyes, people left with their car seats and interior panels on the shoulder, trying to put their cars back together again after searches. It ain't pretty, and when the checkpoints are closed on specific days, like holidays, it's easy for actual smugglers to pick a time/place for their operations to go on unhindered.

It is to laugh AND cry.

No stops on the border. Nobody asking to see your passport if ID.

16. Hey, pretty much ANYTHING is "legal" now... as long as Congress won't act and SCOTUS is a joke...

The remedy is one of two things and neither is pleasant or optimal:

1) Blow up the Union and split this nation into city-states/urban centers and rural/land grants. The question of who gets the nukes is a thorny one, but I would rather die than see the MAGA crowd gain unfettered access to those weapons... if Iran can be denied nukes on the basis of religious fundamentalism and dangerous zealotry, well, that pretty much rules out ALL of MAGA for the same rationalization.

2) Wait for the worm to turn, take back Congress, investigate AND PROSECUTE every last Trump regime criminal (regardless of their pardon status from the pile of vomit in a bad suit and diapers). THEN stack SCOTUS, carve out a 180 filibuster exemption and repair the most egregious damage from Trump and this confederates. This time though, I want non-cooperating defendants hauled into court in chains and I want them shackled to the defendants table in court like Bobby Seals in Chicago...

What 100% CANNOT happen in ANY way is "moving on" and ignoring the travesty of the current time. Those responsible MUST be charged, tried, convicted and sentenced to the maximum penalty of law in ALL cases. From Trump down to the goons he pardoned, we need to re-establish legal CONSEQUENCES for law breaking and not just endless lawsuits and appeals and BS.
