(11,260 posts)From a blurb on Yahoo referencing the WaPo article:
Lockheed Martin is donating $5 million for the helipad's construction. A subsidiary of the defense and aerospace giant is manufacturing the new fleet of presidential helicopters, called the VH-92A Patriot, which are slated to replace the aging VH-3D Sea King. That model has flown every president since Gerald Ford, who left office in 1977. The new choppers apparently emit exhaust capable of burning the lawn, especially in hot or dry conditions. They debuted in 2019 and have carried both Presidents Biden and Trump, but they don't land at the White House.
