'Stunning' disclosure shows what Trump's doing isn't legal: ex-White House lawyer

By David Edwards

President Donald Trump's former White House lawyer said Tuesday that Trump's $1 billion crypto haul is part of "the greatest onslaught of corruption in the history of mankind."

Ty Cobb, who served on Trump's White House legal team in 2017 and 2018, made the remarks on CNN's "OutFront" in response to Trump's newly released financial disclosure — a 927-page filing showing Trump earned more than $1 billion from crypto ventures in 2025 alone.

Anchor Erin Burnett asked whether it's all legal.

Since us peons have basically no legal standing to sue this fucking corrupt orange hair traitor maybe some legal standing state attorney or Attorney General could file charges against this asshole under the Emolument Clause has to, doing harm......................you would think.........scam is still a scam and bribery is still bribery .............because that is what this crypto currency BS is a scam............

There is no statute associated with the Emoluments Clause that Trump could be charged with violating.

That doesn’t mean the next congress can’t investigate and impeach him for his corruption.

that's actually legal. The Emoluments Clause has no teeth, and even if it did, state AGs have don't have jurisdiction to enforce federal laws.

Seems like anything he does do legally is disinterest or carelessness.
