USDA secretary: Trump 'resolutely focused' on affordability

Source: The Hill

Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins said President Trump is honing in on affordability measures ahead of the new year, as polling shows his approval on the economy is tanking.

During a recent appearance on Fox Business’s “Kudlow,” Rollins recounted the president telling her, “’Brooke, we’re not going to have plastic eggs at the Easter Egg Roll at the White House. Go get the price of eggs down.'” “And really, in almost 10 months, it’s down 86 percent, the price of eggs. But, to your question, this president has been, as you know, because you know him so well, resolutely focused on making America more affordable again,” she added.

The president has touted his attempts to lower the cost of living and pegged affordability concerns as a “voter perception issue,” alleging that the increase in reported grievances were a “con job by the Democrats.” “I think polls are fake. We have the greatest economy we’ve ever had,” the president said during a Fox News appearance earlier this month.

While egg prices have fallen 1.3 percent over the past year and dairy prices have been largely stable, beef prices are up 14.7 percent since last year in addition to bacon, which is up 5.8 percent and pork is generally up 1.6 percent, according to an analysis of recent CPI data. Overall inflation has risen 3 percent since September 2024, which is 1 percentage point above the Federal Reserve’s target of 2 percent.

Then why does he spend so much money remodeling the White House and on that Great Gatsby party at Mar-a-lago?

And how did it help average Americans to come up with billions for Argentina?

. . . his health plan (never) and "Infrastructure Week" (non-existent) produces a record breaking infusion of cash into America's most needy areas.

He wants to pretend to be the "affordability" president, but repugs don't want to reup the ACA subsidies and so will be held personally responsible for the huge growth in premiums. If they put out junk insurance, that too will be a cause for people to flip when they are really sick or injured and they are refused care without huge upfornt payments.
