Ukraine's First Precision Guided Bomb Built Entirely in Country, Now Combat-Ready, Defense Minister Says
Source: Kyiv Post
Ukraine has developed its first domestically produced guided aerial bomb, which is now ready for combat use, Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov said on Monday, May 18.
Fedorov said the bomb was created by a participant in Ukraines Brave1 defense technology platform and has already passed the necessary preliminary tests.
The first Ukrainian guided aerial bomb is ready for combat use, Fedorov said, adding that Ukraine continues to develop high-tech solutions for the front.
Fedorov, who previously served as Ukraines digital transformation minister and championed the Brave1 cluster, said the bombs development took 17 months. He said the weapon features a unique design tailored to the realities of modern warfare and is not a copy of Western or Soviet systems.

Ukrainian engineering, which kept the Soviet Union moving forward technologically and one of the reasons Putin wants Ukraine, is in overdrive. Russia will not be able to compete with Ukrainian advances. Every new military technology brings Ukraine closer to victory and Putin knows it.

(3,904 posts)Whatever you may think of the current ability of Russia's military at one time they were very formidable. Ukraine was the center of their brain trust. And the brains in Ukraine didn't just build weaponry. It was the engineering center of the entire USSR and through the years built some really good stuff. Lacking advanced western technology for most of the 20th century they built things very robust and very easy to repair. It's no surprise, to me anyway, that they are capable of a lot more than most of the world thought they could do. 20th century Soviet engineering took the KISS principle very seriously. There's a reason that principle works to this day.
Slava Ukraine!
