The Letitia James Indictment Is Bigger Than You Think
So Donald Trump finally got the Department of Justice to indict New York Attorney General Letitia James on these bullshit fraud charges. Obviously, it’s part of his broader revenge tour—going after anyone who’s ever crossed him or poses a threat to whatever dystopian nightmare he’s trying to turn this country into.
He’s going after James Comey. He’s going after Adam Schiff. He’s going after ActBlue and key pieces of the Democratic Party’s infrastructure. He’s gone after lawyers. Comedians. Harvard. Whole institutions—demanding loyalty pledges like he’s some wannabe emperor of academia.
And still, according to most of the traditional media and literally the entire Republican Party, we’re not allowed to call this fascism. We’re the ones who are “inappropriate” for pointing out that this is what fascism looks like. That these are the actions of a man who wants to rule as an authoritarian.
And here’s the thing: this is going to keep getting worse before it gets better. Because neither Congress nor the courts seem willing to stand up to a president who’s losing popularity but gaining power. He keeps testing the boundaries—reaching out and poking at the walls of democracy we all assumed were stone, only to realize they’re paper.
