The scene outside the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement compound south of downtown Portland early Monday evening was characteristically mellow.
Whats ahead in legal wrangling over a potential National Guard deployment to Oregons largest city, however, is anything but settled. Federal, state and city officials are wrangling over which level of federal judges have the right to rule on which legal challenge, when and to what effect. Right-wing influencers got access to Kristi Noems Portland visit while local media was shut out

U.S. Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noems Oct. 7 visit to Portland came without the typical advance notice to local press, but several right-wing social media influencers were granted unprecedented access to her and to the ICE compound in Portland.
Local news organizations received no interview opportunities, press availability or public statements during Noems visit. But influencers with large social media followings appeared to ride in her motorcade and join her inside the ICE facility. The influencers took videos of Noem speaking from the roof of the building, coming out of meetings with public officials and even questioning unnamed, handcuffed people detained by federal officers................................
