Friday Night Vodka Buzz. Ask me anything.

Two shots to get the party started. Now, a Rosita. Tequila, sweet and dry vermouth, and Campari. I don’t have Campari, so I substituted Aperol. Yummy!

Just finished a brutal week in clinic. Now looking forward to a week of vacation. I need the break.

I love you all.

And with all these hearts, I feel loved in return. DU Loungers are the best.

1. Sounds good, but I'm always disappointed with the aperol for campari substitutions

Maybe I’m just not much of an Aperol fan although I seem to like almost every other bitter alcohol concoction. I do like Campari, Vermouth, and pretty much any booze to finish. I also love to add fresh grapefruit juice to this mix with Tequila or various gins. Have a great night!

2. Someone knows their aperitifs.

Aperol works well in a cocktail of my own invention, the Cascade Sunset. Vodka, tonic, an ounce of limoncello, and a splash of Aperol.

I hope you like it.

Interesting. I like Martinis, and I like olive brine. I just don’t like the two together.

But I respect a person making a variation of a classic cocktail.

Enjoy!

6. I live black olives and Kalamata olives. Just not green olives.

I don’t know why.

Anyway, nothing like a good stiff drink to end the day with.

9. Do you and Mrs. Aristus have any Valentine's Day plans?

We don't. I bought 2 cards from Trader Joe's - only 99 cents. I wasn't sure which one I liked better, and was going to take them out of the bag before going in the house to hide them, but forgot to do that. So, when my husband was helping to unpack the bags, he saw that there were 2 cards, admitted that he hadn't gotten one yet, so we decided to just stick with the two I'd already acquired and exchange them. They are blank inside, so at least we will write our own messages. I usually prefer blank cards because I'd rather express myself than just sign my name to someone else's sappy words.

When you've been married for 44 years, Valentine's Day is no biggie - .

was going on? What are your plans for the week?

I see that your bittter, at least tonight, is Aperol. Are you familiar with a bitter Amarao Nonino? Apparently the work of two sisters, very herbal.

14. It was just very busy in clinic. One of my colleagues is out for surgery.

It will be a while before he’s back. Scheduling is routing his patients to the rest of us, with the result that there are fully booked days every day. No hope of cancellations or no-shows. Those get replaced very quickly.

On the plus side, every single patient I visited with this week was very nice. No unpleasant encounters. That makes up for the killer schedules.
