I especially loved her "after winning" when she was so sweet to Ami, the very talented Japaneses skater.

NOT putting the pressure on herself to win--only to enjoy her time on the ice. It damned well worked (as, of course, did her time away from the sport).

My husband has this theory that both Malinin and Amber Glenn were mentally undercut by all the attention they received from the media. They were the favorites, until they weren't. It all went to their heads and the added pressure threw them off their game.

I agree that it happened to Amber Glenn, too.

And it happened to gymnast Simone Biles at the Summer Olympics in Paris.

The media is out of control with sensationalizing these sensitve young athletes who are also artists, and it is causing them psychological damage. It needs to STOP.

Athletic!

All her leaps and spins were low, close to the ice, where she had an exact amount of time to be airborne and not a nanosecond more. Perfectly executed, she looked at ease through the whole performance.
