When it comes time for us to shop, I'm going to get a couple oranges and test that theory.

(36,272 posts)as well!!!! and once the baby robins fly, momma robin feeds it to them too!!!! They would end up in a line on the railing and momma would feed them the jelly. Needless to say momma robin would feel pretty upset when the baby robins were older would hog the jelly and not let momma eat any!!! I quit putting out the jelly, now I only feed hummingbirds forget the Orioles/robins.

(12,041 posts)I accommodated my neighborhood hummingbirds and orioles 3 days ago.
It took the orioles a few hours to figure out that I had the grape jelly bowl ready to go for them.
I didn't see any hummingbirds until yesterday, but that doesn't mean that they weren't around.
