(23,448 posts)After that he asked a few people if they had heard it before- and nobody had. The words came later.
I am convinced that Paul McCartney has a musical brain. Music just comes to him naturally. He never studied music and he did not know how to read a musical score. But he has an amazing gift- it just flows through him.
I think "Yesterday" has more covers by other artists than any other song.

(1,498 posts)I love The Beatles, especially their early songs and I have albums of their both on vinyl and CD. I even have a Beatles playlist on my phone with 25 of my favorite songs of theirs on it. It's hard to say one song is my favorite but I Saw Her Standing There stands out the most with I Want Hold Your Hand a close second.

(15,310 posts)I liked that mid-1966 sound..bass lines, quirky change ups.
'A Day In The Life' was brilliant, though.

(103 posts)There are many great Beatles songs
There are two that are generally recognized as their 'best'
1. A Day In The Life
2. I Am The Walrus
Blackbird, Across The Universe, Tomorrow Never knows, I'm So Tired, It's All Too Much
They have an endless supply of 'great' songs ... Everybody has their own faves
I was obsessed with 'I Want You: She's So Heavy' for years .... The coda is progressive rock magic, and was the very last Beatles recording
Yet ... A Day In The Life was considered their masterpiece for decades
And I personally raved about I Am The Walrus for decades as the best Beatles composition

(548 posts)Even though John didn't like the final result, I love that song. "Nothing is going to change my world," when I am in my happy place, this is what I hear. I saw the Beatles for the first time at the Cow Palace, San Francisco, in August 1964, with my saved babysitting money at age 13. I love all of their music, fan for life.
