Old Texas Sayings about quilting and

I'm reading a book about old Texas sayings. Thought I'd share the ones about quilting and a wise one about sewing.

If a maiden completes a patchwork quilt alone, she will never marry.

When you have finished quilting a new quilt, put a cat in the center of the quilt and shake it. Let single girls hold the corners of the quilt and do the shaking. When the shaking ends, the girl that the cat runs by is the one that will get married.

After framing a quilt, you must sew a few stitches in it the same day or you will never get it finished.

You must sew all your troubles in a pillowcase on the first day of the year and they won't bother you anymore

Kick in to the DU tip jar?

This week we're running a special pop-up mini fund drive. From Monday through Friday we're going ad-free for all registered members, and we're asking you to kick in to the DU tip jar to support the site and keep us financially healthy.

As a bonus, making a contribution will allow you to leave kudos for another DU member, and at the end of the week we'll recognize the DUers who you think make this community great.
