Heres a fun and horrifying fact sent to me by Day By Dayer Matt Landry - somebody born in the 1800s would have as much a chance of hearing the first Beatles album, Please Please Me, as would somebody born today. (Actually, they likely would have a greater chance.)
This is due to the fact that last week was June 11, 2026.
Please Please Me was released on March 22, 1963.
So
December 31, 1899 to March 22, 1963 = 23,091 days
March 22, 1963 to June 11, 2026 = 23,092 days
That album now officially was released closer to the 1800s than today.

Thanks for the post, and the Substack link! I agree with Dan Szczesny that music is timeless.

The Beatles and the whole mod, Carnaby Street era was barely 20 years after the end of WWII, and the Nazi blitz against London. That would be the equivalent of such events happening in 2006 to us now.

And after the first shock from your thread title, my next thought was Wow, look how long classic rock has stayed popular!
No matter often some artists and critics praising some new trend might try to declare rock dead, it always resurges, played again and again by successive generations of new musicians.
