https://www.denverpost.com/2026/07/01/jared-polis-fires-clemency-board-members-tina-peters/Colorado Gov. Jared Polis fired two members of his clemency advisory board Wednesday for publicly speaking against his decision to free Tina Peters after she was convicted of election-related crimes, his office confirmed to The Denver Post.
Polis removed Hannah Seigel Proff and Azra Taslimi from the advisory board because they breached the required duty of confidentiality by publicly divulging board members votes, according to letters from Polis reported Wednesday afternoon by the New York Times, which was first to break the news.
Following the 2020 election, Peters, then the Mesa County clerk and recorder, gave a person associated with election-denier Mike Lindell access to Mesa Countys voting system. She was found guilty of four felonies and sentenced in October 2024 to nine years in prison for the crimes.
Polis commuted her sentence in May, arguing that her sentence was harsher than people who were also convicted of attempting to influence a public official had received in other circumstances. He also argued that she was being punished for her speech.

That could explain the cowardice in freeing Peters. But firing these two implies he wanted Peters free

That's my point - if he wanted a pretext, then he was actually in favour of releasing Peters

I wonder what dirt on Polis pushed him in this direction.

unless you're saying Trump continued to threaten to strip money unless these two were fired - in which case, a decent politician would have made that public.

But it may be that the two did violate requirements for their participation in that committee, and that at least gave Polis a pretext.

If, in giving the pardon, he was just knuckling under to get the rightful money the state was due, he could have turned a blind eye to their actions.

Tina Peterss ostentatious lack of remorse hasnt stopped Polis from tripling down in the handjob he personally delivered to Donald Trump:

I admire their courage in calling out Poliss grotesque betrayal of American democracy.
