Reports show Talbot elections board violated Open Meetings Act 9 times
EASTON A state compliance board found the Talbot County Board of Elections violated the Open Meetings Act nine times within a 16-month period.
Two opinions released by the Open Meetings Compliance Board shed light on multiple infractions by the Talbot board, which meets monthly, often in closed and open sessions, to discuss matters surrounding the county's election process.
Some of the violations occurred during meetings in the lead-up to the 2024 general election. At the time, the board and Election Director Tammy Stafford came under scrutiny from local Republicans, who cited the uneven partisan breakdown of election judges as unfair.
One violation occurred during a closed session meeting on Sept. 18, 2024, during which board members discussed approval of election judges.
