Hinds County Election Commission won't assist with March primary elections

JACKSON, Miss. (WLBT) - The Hinds County Election Commission will not provide assistance for the March 10 congressional primary elections, leaving both political parties to conduct the voting process independently.

The commission voted 4-1 against entering contracts to help with ballot ordering and poll worker training, services typically provided for primary elections.

District 4 Commissioner Yvonne R. Horton said both parties failed to submit contracts in a timely manner for commission assistance.

However, Chair of the Hinds County Democratic Executive Committee James Lott III disagrees.
