Riverview alderwoman loses re-election by 1 vote, 2 new members to join board

ST. LOUIS, Mo. (First Alert 4) - Two new alderpersons will join the Riverview board following Tuesday’s municipal election.

According to early results from the St. Louis County Board of Elections, Karen Pauls and Konjit Avent have won their races.

Pauls beat out incumbent Ruth A. Cole for a Ward 1 seat by a single vote. Cole was charged last week with misdemeanor assault, accused of hitting someone with a lawn chair.

Pauls ran a write-in campaign with the support of several Riverview residents who are calling for change in the community after the arrest of Riverview Mayor Michael Cornell Jr.
