Ballot set for Folly Beach special election to fill city council seat left vacant by Mayor Bizzell

FOLLY BEACH — A special election to fill a city council seat left vacant by the election of Chris Bizzell as mayor is set for Feb. 17 and two familiar faces have come forward.

D.J. Rich and John McFarland were the only two candidates to file for candidacy with the Charleston County Board of Voter Registration and Elections.

Filing for the election closed Dec. 22 at 12 p.m.

Rich and McFarland most recently ran for leadership positions in the Folly Beach city government.
