Crowded field forms for Danville City Council election
he filing deadline has passed for candidates seeking one of four council seats that will be on the ballot in November. All four incumbents are seeking re-election and will be joined by six challengers.
That gives voters 10 candidates competing for four seats. It is the most crowded City Council ballot since 2016, when 11 candidates sought five seats.
For a council election featuring four open seats, it is the largest field since the 1970 election.
Mayor Alonzo Jones and Vice Mayor James Buckner are seeking new four-year terms, along with fellow incumbents Bryant Hood and Gary Miller.
