Permits show Seattle Times moving to Vulcan building in South Lake Union

The Seattle Times has signaled plans to move to a new office in the Alley 24 property in South Lake Union.

The Times on Sept. 23 applied for a permit to make improvements on the fifth floor of the mixed-use building across the street from the REI flagship store.

The application information aligns with a marketing brochure for the mixed-use building at 221 Yale Ave. N., indicating the Times is taking around 36,000 square feet of office space.

JPC Architects is listed on the application, which states the estimated cost of the work is $1.82 million. Improvement work includes installing partitions, glazing, casework and lighting.
