Not that I have a lot in the market, just 3 stocks, but they are all worth more than I paid.
I'm betting on higher interest rates and will put the funds in 3 month CDs. Hope to roll them over every time they are due.
That's just me, I wouldn't bet on it.

(24,033 posts)Owning three stocks in just three companies is incredibly risky, so selling and reinvesting elsewhere is a good idea.
If interest rates go up, that means inflation is up too. Putting your money in CDs will probably not keep up with inflation.
Not sure how much youre looking at investing, but you could divide it up into five chunks and mitigate some of the volatility that comes with the Trump era.
20% Large cap such as Windsor or Wellington
20% Mid cap (not too tech heavy)
20% international fund
40% in a couple of bond funds
Rebalance 2-3 times a year to maintain those proportions.
If youre not too close to retirement, then set it and forget it (other than rebalancing).
Our professionally managed portfolio weathered the crashes of 87, 2001, 2008, COVID and Trump and provides a decent portion of our retirement income. We never bailed or moved everything to cash, even when the market was down 50% (our portfolio only dropped 30%) in 2008-09.

(38,030 posts)Most of my money is in a Money Market account. I was planning on doing the same with that money. I'm retired and have zero debt. Live on SS and a pension. Wife just retired and the same.

(38,030 posts)Last car payment was in 1982 and Im in my 3rd payed for home. Im 76 and looking at 10 to 14 years to go if I live as long as my parents. Really could spend some down traveling in the next few years. Even with current gas prices, just not as far and overseas isnt looking to good now. Never been to the far East and that might be on a bucket list.
