News and money

So sorry this is a bit of a complaint and a rant. I also want to find cost effective way to get accurate current news.
My finances have had to be adjusted downward and I thought I was doing a good job. Until last month my subscription (digital) to the Atlantic came in and did a automatic renewal for 97 dollars ! Now back when I was employed in my union job the then 50 dollar annual renewal was unnoticed
This has made me aware of the increasing cost of news, now I already use AP news and I listen to NPR (We give to nor sporadically) we have cut cable off literally the day after the last election my wife turned off the tv and cancelled cable.
So to stay current and still get in-depth articles. Is there a site or a way to get news that I am missing ? I dont mind paying I just want to get my moneys worth. Thank you

Aaron Parnas and other updates. You can get LiveNewsPro.com on your phone with MSNow and other channels about $35 for 6 months. I cut cable several years ago. Use TMobile home wifi for $45 per month, and a Firestick.

newspapers and magazines for a single flat fee.

I pay $34 per year (a promo rate that I have had for six years). I get The Atlantic, NY Times, Washington Post, the Guardian, and thousands of others.

I really enjoy some of the British publications and special interest magazines.

If you are a magazine/news junkie like I am, this is a great deal.
