Madagascar's president flees country to a 'safe space' after alleged attempt on his life - DW News
Madagascar’s President Rajoelina made an address to the nation Monday night. According to Reuters News Agency, the President said he had to move to a secure location outside the country to protect his life. Over the weekend, Rajoelina had said there was a coup underway, after losing the army's support. An elite military unit is backing the so-called Generation Z protesters, and on Monday there were celebrations in the capital Antananarivo. The demonstrators demanded the president step down, following weeks of unrest.
