Navalnaya and the excuse that lets Russia's war continue - Break the Fake - TVP WORLD

A 17-year-old girl signs a contract with the Russian Army, allegedly to feed her child. The explanation is familiar: the system forced her. Vladimir Putin is to blame.

Yulia Navalnaya publicly echoed this framing, presenting it as a case of a tragic, forced choice.

But where does responsibility end – and where does it begin?

Yes, the system exploits poverty, targets the vulnerable, and normalizes violence. But systems do not sign contracts or pull triggers. People do. When personal agency is erased, accountability disappears. And when everyone is labeled a victim, no one is held responsible for their part in the war.

Join Benjamin Lee in today’s episode of Break the Fake as he examines how segments of the Russian opposition – intentionally or not – help blur that line.
