Gazan influencer dubbed Mr. FAFO killed by militia opposed to Hamas in Gaza City
NYC mayoral frontrunner Mamdanis wife mourns Saleh al-Jafarawi, who went viral in Israel for celebrating the Oct. 7 attack, then crying amid subsequent Israeli bombardment
Saleh al-Jafarawi, a social media influencer in the Gaza Strip who became well-known to Israelis and others after cheering Hamass October 7, 2023, attack, was killed Sunday during armed clashes between Hamas and Palestinian militias in Gaza City.
Footage circulating online showed his body. According to the reports, Jafarawi was killed by the militias while covering the incident.
He gained wide attention with a video he recorded on October 7, 2023, in which he praised Hamass attack. Later in the war, he filmed himself crying in reaction to Israels airstrikes. Pro-Israel activists juxtaposed the two videos and gave him the nickname Mr. FAFO (an acronym for fuck around and find out.)
In the following weeks, videos went viral in which Jafarawi appeared to impersonate a doctor, a wounded patient, a fighter, a journalist, and people of other roles, drawing widespread mockery among pro-Israel figures for what appeared to be lazy propaganda. During the war, Jafarawi was accused in social media reports of pocketing millions of dollars he had raised as donations for Gaza residents.

the various Palestinian factions in Gaza. How unsurprising.

Deadly fighting erupts between Hamas and Palestinian clan in Gaza
3 October 2025
The southern Gaza city of Khan Younis has witnessed one of the fiercest internal confrontations since the war began, between a Hamas security force and gunmen from the al-Mujaida clan - one of the largest families in the south.
According to Hamas, its forces raided the neighbourhood to detain individuals accused of collaborating with Israel.
Local accounts, however, described an armed assault by about 50 men riding in five pickup trucks, armed with assault rifles and a rocket-propelled grenade (RPG) launcher, who stormed the al-Mujaida quarter and killed five members of the family. Armed relatives quickly fought back, sparking hours-long clashes with heavy gunfire.
Reports circulating on social media difficult to independently verify claim that more than 11 Hamas members were killed, with some of their bodies dragged through the streets.
