I have a 17 year old pup that I'm about dying in his sleep. (Then he runs around like a puppy.)

and was gone for six days. We tried to follow his tracks in the snow with no luck - soon we were frantic and feared he'd frozen to death, but one morning he turned up at the back door with dried leaves in his fur and very hungry. He stuffed his face and then went to sleep on a radiator, with no explanation. He probably holed up under a porch somewhere but we'll never know. He never ran out again.

I've been there, too. Glad she is home!

The cat currently snuggling me and purring, my only cat for now, has absolutely no desire to go outside. She was a feral kitten about 12 weeks old when she adopted me. She walked right in my front door and has never shown any interest in going back out for 12 years now. I suppose 12 weeks was quite enough for her!
