🏈 Bills fire coach Sean McDermott after 9 seasons

The Buffalo Bills have fired head coach Sean McDermott after another season that failed to end in a Super Bowl appearance, a source told ESPN's Adam Schefter on Monday.

Bills general manager Brandon Beane is being retained, a source told ESPN's Alaina Getzenberg. He will help lead the team's search for a new coach to lead the Bills' debut season in their new stadium.

McDermott leaves Buffalo with a 98-50 record, with an 8-8 mark in the postseason. He won five consecutive AFC East titles from 2020 to 2024, finishing second behind the New England Patriots this season.

Besides the Bills, seven NFL teams currently have coaching vacancies: Miami, Tennessee, Baltimore, Pittsburgh, Las Vegas, Arizona and Cleveland

but the Rooney s know what they are doing.

As I said elsewhere, look they live in the age of Mahomes. 4 of their last 5 playoff losses have been to KC and they had one to Joe Burrows too.

The Bills just have bad timing. The Marv Levy team was truly great but it was in the time of Jimmy’s Cowboys and Steve Young’s Niners.

Look @ the Rooney Family in Pittsburgh starting with Chuck Knoll in the 1970s their
philosophy has always been we hire good people as our coaches and if things don’t
work out we will get new players and that includes players that are very good but not
down with “the team #1 and being a good citizen” are our core values.

Btw I have read some comments here and other places criticizing Josh Allen.

The Bills loss in the playoffs wasn’t the coach’s or Allen’s fault.
The Bills are going for the Art Modell award for being stupid. Years ago Marty Schottenheimer
got the Browns into and I think winning one round of the playoffs with a retired golf pro as their
starting QB replacing Kosar and 3 or more starters out and Modell fired a Marty after his best
coaching ever.

I can do a really good physical impression of him backing up and throwing.

The Drive and Byner’s fumble.
