I remember watching Dale Sr. bumping his opponents into the wall of center field at race after race and I reached the point where I had nothing but scorn for the guy. So it was not a shock when he took it to the edge one time too many.

The fact that he had a habit of loosening his seat belts is what killed him.

If you have ever looked at the crash, the hit was no more severe than those sustained by scores of other drivers who all walked away.

I hope this season treats him well. He's had the darnest terrible luck on the track. It was a good race.
