Safari/iOS: Buttons, links, tabs, back button stop working multiple times per day

When browsing and/or posting/replying, the browser just stops working. Pages won't advance. Comments or replies won't post. Totally non-responsive. The only recovery seems to be to kill the browser session and log in again. I've done as much troubleshooting as I can on my end, but this only happens on DU (and not other sites I access from my phone). I always browse in private windows and I use a VPN. But this has been my browsing profile for years on DU. This issue only came up starting a few months ago. Any ideas? Any other phone users having similar issues?

You're not alone. I'm not sure what you are using Safari on but I found this as an option... chowder66 Oct 2024 #4

Ios 17.5.1, iCloud private relay. No VPN. But I don't use private windows with DU. I use extensions dark night and purify ( the closest thing to ublock origin) and that's it.

I use Sheriff to block javascript and/or cookies on nag sites. Not DU.

Worst thing Safari ever does to me is lose my typing when the network balks or I switch too many apps (like editing photos and switching back to Safari)

Hope you solve it.

That's always one of the basic troubleshooting steps. Thanks for the reminder though.

Toggling off Safari in “Apps Using iCloud” in Settings fixed this issue for me

Thanks for the idea though. This is very frustrating, and I suspect it's something with DU's mobile interface. I never had this problem before the upgrade. I mean it could be my own phone, but it doesn't happen on other sites.

is usually something only a handful of people run into so it takes forever for it to be fixed in a later update. It happens with almost every MacBook I've had.
The issue doesn't always show up right away either. It sucks.

Good luck! I will keep my eye out for anything that pops up about your issue.
