Trump's Iran War & Tariffs Are Drowning American Farms - The Logical Leftist

Jason Sheehan, a multi-generational farmer in Washington State, is watching his livelihood disappear under the crushing weight of Trump's Iran War and devastating tariffs, now facing eroded profits and denied financing. Across the Northwest, potato growers like Idaho's Ryan Wahlen echo this despair, as farms are lost and processing contracts plummet.

When Donald Trump promised "America First," farmers all across the country bought in, voting for policies they believed would protect their way of life.

Instead, Trump's "war of choice" with Iran has sent oil prices soaring to $110 a barrel, directly impacting fuel and fertilizer costs that are eating away at already razor-thin profit margins. This isn't abstract geopolitics; this is a direct extraction scheme where the agricultural community, the backbone of rural America, is forced to subsidize an unnecessary conflict, leading to denied bank financing for cultivation and drastically reduced processing contracts. The "MAGA policies" that claimed to save money are instead costing the country over $10 billion, with the heaviest burden falling squarely on the shoulders of those who supported them most.

This economic FAFO narrative extends beyond individual farms, threatening the stability of entire communities. As farmers are forced to reduce acreage or lose their farms entirely, the ripple effect reaches consumers through higher food prices and an increasingly fragile supply chain. The very trade wars and foreign policy decisions championed by the Trump administration have created a hostile economic environment, leading to record inflation, trade uncertainty, and plummeting crop prices. A letter from 54 agriculture groups pleading for tax relief underscores the systemic betrayal: the policies meant to make America great again are actively dismantling one of its foundational industries, proving that there's nothing more wasteful than a "middle east forever war" driven by ego, not economic sense.

This is the stark reality of what happens when political posturing collides with economic consequences. The promised prosperity never materialized for these farmers; instead, they are left to pick up the pieces of an industry shattered by policies that prioritized spectacle over substance. This isn't just about partisan politics; it's about the material harm inflicted on real Americans, forcing them to pay the ultimate price for decisions made by an administration that claimed to represent their interests. The fight back begins by exposing these betrayals and holding those responsible accountable for the wreckage they've left behind.

I can't wait for the farmer bashers to show up...

Honestly, I'm sick to death of them.

Planting starts in two weeks. Hell or high water. We keep doing it until we die. I'm holding on as long as I can. FDT. I'm going to bed.

Love you, TT. ❤️
